Crisis
Review
Crisis is a spiritual experience; it trancends above the normal, definitely not your average metal show.  I have literally been to hundreds of shows and I had yet to see anything like this before.  It's performance art at it's highest level.  Vocalist, Karyn Crisis, will silence ANY naysayer that believes a woman does not belong in metal.  First off she's tiny and she squeezes out more sound, more passion than any 6'+ footer ever could.  Karyn has an amazing voice and to round out the equation the band is comprised of accomplished musicians: Afzzal Nasiruddeen - guitar, Gia Wang - bass, Jwyanza Hobson - guitar, and Josh Florian - drums.  I was moved;  this band is a definite headliner!

The one thing I hate about Chicago audiences is that they never give openers a fair shake.  God forbid they witness a show that they don't get or goes over their heads.  The crowd just stood before the stage as if they had been hypnotized, little did they know, they really were.

As I mentioned earlier, Karyn is a very strong vocalist, traditionally Chicago fans don't know how to treat opening acts.  Well Ms. Crisis displayed her leonine prowess by silencing an unwarranted heckler.  The heckler had the temerity to blatantly call out, "YOU SUCK!" Without even an upwards glance she retorted, "Suck my pussy, you cocksucker!  I have more balls than you do!!  So enjoy yourselves!" How was this? Not to mention the looks that crossed the onlookers faces were even more priceless. A couple of ignoramuses still had the gall to keep the negativity going; but like the truly seasoned musicians they are, the band ignored the noise and played beautifully without skipping a beat.  However, Karyn did have the final word after all, at the beginning of "Mechanical Man", she calls out "Here's another song for you fucking assholes!"

Crisis should be rolling through your town on their new tour being in direct support for Kittie & Otep.  You will be sorry if you miss them!!
