Erika Kristen Watt came from an educational background in Graphic Design/Advertising, attending the International Academy of Merchandising and Design (now Design and Technology).  Honing her craft in the Chicago music scene for over several years, she became a freelance photographer for the underground music publication “Our Kindred” and “forward magazine” for her photojournalistic-style pictorials. Covering such events as the CMJ Conference in New York, Philadelphia Music Conference, Gavin and South by Southwest (SXSW) in Texas.  From this union, Erika Kristen’s portfolio includes live concert stills of national acts Rollins Band,
Type O Negative, AFI, Nine Inch Nails, G Love and Special Sauce to international acts Big Sugar from Canada and Cradle of Filth of England.  Bringing focus to such local unsigned bands as Former Teenage Idols and Blackmaker  while also keeping a consent spotlight on signed artists Disturbed, Iced Earth and Soil.   Erika is always in continued support of a thriving music industry in the Chicagoland area.

No genre of music is too obscure…

She has also flexed her talents in the cinema realm, by becoming the production assistant for 14G Music, Video and Photography.   Specializing in exposing a new genre of up n’ coming
independent actors and directors through promotional materials.

In the mid 90's Erika Kristen and writer/friend Karma E. created
Our Kindred: For Underground People Who Don't Want To Be There, a printed publication dedicated to the local underground artists & musicians in Chicagoland area where she served as Editor, Writer and Creative Layout Artist.

Currently, she is owner of Erika Kristen Photography in Chicago. Past clients include
Tiffany & Company, Silver Lining and The Art Institute of Chicago. Her works have been displayed at the Around the Coyote and
the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago.
