"They say that time changes things, but you actually have to change them yourself."   -- Andy Warhol

 Version 6.6

Definitions #1-2 via Mirriam-Webster.com & #3 via www.aar-site.org
karma - Pronunciation: 'kär-m& also 'k&r-
Function: noun
Etymology: Sanskrit karma fate, work

1 often capitalized : the force generated by a person's actions held in Hinduism and Buddhism to perpetuate transmigration and in its ethical consequences to determine the nature of the person's next existence
2 : VIBRATION
3: The law of moral cause and effect; also a person's moral merit/demerit according to one's actions and (more so) the inner intentions or motives which accompany them in terms of their conformity/non-conformity with dharma. One's karma is said to entail one's rebirth in order for that karma to be realized or fulfilled, and to determine the circumstances of that subsequent life. Attainment of moksha is thought to eliminate the production of karma (in the second sense) altogether, and to bring to an end the cycle of rebirth (samsara).

Well now you know the origin of my name and its etymology, now the real fun begins. This would be the segment of the program where I let you into my world, well here we go...hang on to your hats. Marching to the beat of a different drummer has always been the way I have chosen to lead my life. Never declaring a mantra until now since, I was never willing to commit to just one as I have followed MANY in the past! I used to share, "Think It, Be It" with my best friend, however I found the quote above fit me like a glove. In order to make your way in life, you have to do it yourself thereby people may not realize what they want until you give it to tem. Realizing the sky is the limit and if you hit a glass ceiling remember, more than likely you put it there. Never give up, do not accept no for an answer because as soon as you give up, you'll never know if that "yes" you were so desperately seeking was around the corner. It is important to set your sights high, believing you can have what you want out of life therefore when opportunity knocks, you will be ready to accept it and will be able to recognize the opportunity when it presents itself. Bottom line is I do not quit, no matter how bloodied I am!

Speaking of opportunity, I thank the stars & the deities above for the chance to be able to report the way I want to, to be able to give the reader a worthy story of the musicians/bands you find note worthy. I appreciate being able to tell a story the way it was intended: truthful, real and raw!! I have always dreamt of being a journalist and as an aficionado of music what better way to bridge the two?!?! I consider myself lucky to be able to work with four wonderful power houses that bring different elements which rounds out the FourteenG table.

BIO:
Karma Elise Omowale, premiere Freelance Writer, majored in Journalism at Southern Illinois University at Carbondale where A Woman's Guide To Baseball was spawned from the concept of her thesis.

Through her quick wit, she conducted lively field interviews for her own company,
A Balls & Strikes Production, featuring Major League Baseball players such as: Ryan Klesko (San Diego Padres), Brian Jordan (Atlanta Braves), Kerry Wood & Kyle Farnsworth (Chicago Cubs). Whilst ensconced in the sports arena, the early 90's local and national music scenes made an imprint on Karma's soul as she began to shift gears and devote her writing skills to a more melodic tone.

Karma has been commissioned to produce press releases, liner notes, street marketing, and other miscellaneous promotional items for such local and national artists: Bootleg, Former Teenage Idols, Simple Simon, Blackmaker, Tommy Klein of Liquid Soul, etc.

On her roster of freelance interviews, she has covered talent such as: Carl Severson (Nora/Ferret Records), In Flames, Witchery, Soilwork, Hypocrisy, Dimmu Borgir, Devin Townsend, Fear Factory, Behemoth, Satyricon, Cradle of Filth, Entombed, GWAR, Arch Enemy, Children of Bodom, The Haunted, Evergrey, Lacuna Coil, and Shadows Fall to name a few.

In the mid 90's Karma and colleague, Erika Kristen Watt, created
Our Kindred: For Underground People Who Don't Want To Live There, a printed publication dedicated to the local Underground Artists & musicians in the Chicagoland Area where she served as: Editor, Writer, and Creative Layout Artist.

Presently Karma works for the FourteenG E-Zine: conducting live interviews, reviews of CD's and live shows. She also serves as the site's Administrator and Webmistress. Currently, she is penning a gothic inspired screenplay involving the ongoing battles between God and man.
