Machinehead God Forbid, 36 Crazyfists Review
God Forbid May Look Like Living Colour But They Sound Like Pantera Machine Head God Forbid 36 Crazyfists HOB 5/10/04 When I first saw God Forbid with Nile a couple of years ago we thought hmm these brotha's are cool, they sound really good. This time, I really paid attention to the words Byron sings and the melody that comes from brothers Dallas and Doc Coyle and I was amazed. Songs like "Precious Lie" and "Antihero" are just two of the tunes that this hardcore band of the east belts out for the audience. The quote is from their bio on God Forbid.com and it couldn't be more true. You can see the musicianship of both brothers as well as bass player Jon Outcalt and drummer Corey Pierce who has got to be one of the most underrated drummers out there. They belted out the aforementioned as well as "Better Days", their most recent tune from the Gone Forever album which has recieved high acclaim. Lead singer Byron may stand in the same spot. Sometimes you wonder does he even know where he is. The rest of the band however are very charismatic and really get the crowd into their show. During the summer, the guys will head out on the Ozzfest tour with other up and coming acts as Unearth and Lamb Of God. They also have some off dates with Slipknot, Slayer, Otep and Dimmu Borgir just to name a few. It's no wonder that Jamey Jasta from Hatebreed sports the God Forbid tee whenever he gets the chance. They truly have a great metal future ahead of them.
Machine Head doesn't disappoint either!!! Machine Head is often mentioned as one of the most underrated bands in metal today. Many have wondered after not recording a studio album for three years would they have the same fire as in previous years. The answer would be a resounding YES!!! Robert Flynn, Dave McClain, Phil Demmel and Adam Duce show that they are back and want to kick your ass in the process. The boys offered favorites like "Ten Ton Hammer", "The More Things Change" as well as their new song "Imperium" off the Through The Ashes album. The crowd was definitely feeling it and let the boys know just how much they were missed. They offered to do covers of Metallica "Master of Puppets", Iron Maiden, or Slayer. Instead they pleased us with a piece of all three. During the set, Flynn enetrtained us with his best "Lil Jon" impression as well as his great impersonation of Dimebag Darrell drinking Jager! For the summer, the band will finish their US leg and then head out on the RoadRage Tour with label mates Chimaira and 3 Inches of Blood and Trivium for support.
