Opeth's music is hard to describe. At first you might want to call it Death metal, but then you learn from their website that consider themselves as a progressive metal band. When I think progressive It's Queensryche. The press called them the "Thinking Man's metal band" back in the 80's. Opeth might be the thinking man's metal band for the new millenium.

It's very easy to get lost in the music of this quintet from Stockholm, Sweden. There flawless rythyms could lull you into a daze if your'e not careful but, maybe that's what's so great about them. Mikael, the band's vocalist, can just strum his guitar, change his vocals and talk to the crowd without breaking a sweat. They don't do any dances, don't bellow to the crowd to get off your asses, or anything like that. In fact, when Mikael spoke to the audience he spoke like a college professor instead of a metal frontman.

Not knowing much about Opeth, I really was impressed by the fact they are great musicians. I was especially blown away by the band's last song
"Deliverance" which seemed to be the crowd favorite.
