| Who Is FourteenG/14g? & The Mission Statement |
| FourteenG.net (also known as Fourteen G) is a monthly online heavy metal, non-for profit, webzine based in Chicago IL. The site prides themselves on exposing its metal community to little known bands from the US as well as international metal acts from Sweden, Finland, France, Italy, Norway, Brazil and Japan. Also, obscure up and coming bands equipped with a "you heard it hear first" vibe is indicated. This site provides a stable platform for many metal musicians to express their views as well as highlighting their talents. Sometimes viewed as an ambiguous underground webzine, it is referenced by such metal outlets as BWBK and Revolver Magazine and have had frequent stories on the pages of the metal news site, Blabbermouth. For breaking reports and candid dialog by some of metal’s most popular musicians. Many FourteenG photos have appeared on cable access’ Music Choice, Sweden’s Dark Tranquilliy website and Wikipedia to name a few. Past interviews include In Flames, Arch Enemy, Lamb of God, Shadows Fall, Gojira, Anthrax, Machine Head, H.I.M. and Gwar. Metal bands from record labels Century Media, Roadrunner Records, Nuclear Blast, Prosthetic Records are often highlighted. The site was named after the founder’s old apartment number, 14G, which got its start as a ‘photographers for hire’ establishment to take picture stills for movies. It is professional metal news for the fans by the fans. Though there are well-seasoned writers and photographers on staff, they are usually open to freelance writers and photographers looking for a break in the metal music scene. |
