Q: Define AnaDies in statement and who is your target audience?

A: Dynamically riveting, a tapestry of lush melodies and punishing aggression. AnaDies does not shoot for a specific target audience, we welcome all who will listen with open arms.

Q: Does AnaDies have a specific meaning? What is the history behind the name?

A: The concept of the band was based off of the word anodize. Electronically changing the color of metal. The meaning for the band has evolved along with the spelling to include other meanings.

Q: How did it go on Warped (Shiragirl Stage)? Did it live up your expectations?

A: We were glad to play such a large event, until we arrived and found the experience to be disappointing. The logistics were chaotic, the stage was 4 hours late in arriving, the touring bands were fighting among themselves, and we were expected to do a lot of the work setting up and selling the other bands’ merchandise. We had no time to really experience the Warped Tour or interact with other bands or see other stages.

Q: When do you expect to tour again?

A: We have not toured yet, we will hopefully be able to tour soon.

Q: What can one expect at a live AnaDies show?

A: Melodic songs with energy and harmonies. A tight stage show that engages the audience.

Q: How’s the scene in Colorado? Is it supportive?

A: There are a lot of good bands, but very little support from the media or cooperative efforts among venues and bands. There are a lot of things that keep people from going out to shows, such as not having all ages venues, poor show times, lack of promotions, and cliques/competition among bands. The scene is not the same caliber as other places around the country.

Q: What specific bands or genres of music does AnaDies draw from?

A: A variety of styles such as metal, hard rock, punk, classical.

Q: Being you have two female members in the band, hopefully the response been more positive. Please expound.

A: The layering of two female vocals has added a dimension that is not as common. There is not a lot of local bands with two female members so it sets us apart.

Q: Is there a specific meaning the title behind Formamentum?

A: It is the latin word for an opening, window, or doorway. Since it is our first album, it is a fitting title.

Q: Has the CD been well received?

A: It has received many positive reviews and has sold more than our initial expectations.

Q: Considering you have MP3’s out there on your site and My Space, has it helped the band overall as far as exposure is concerned?

A: It has helped considerably since we have not toured out of state. We have been able to reach an international audience.

Q: When writing songs, to whom or what do you look towards for inspiration?

A: Many of our songs are based on life experiences. We draw from the past and our hopes for the future as well as using metaphors for general or universal life experiences.

Q: Speaking of songwriting is it more or a democracy when it comes to contribution of music or is there one, main songwriter?

A: All members of the band contribute to the songwriting. Usually one person starts with an idea and the band builds the song around it.

Q: What's the biggest test of character you've endured thus far with your life in AnaDies?

A: Six different personalities having to coexist and agree in the songwriting process. Also, we have had to overcome several major medical problems.

Q: Who are you listening to in the genre and out of the genre?

A: Each person has a wide variety on their listening list from Classical to Hardcore. Acid Bath, Tori Amos, Nightwish, Trivium, Tool, Ill Nino, Lacuna Coil, Bach, Ella Fitzgerald, Suffocation, etc.

Q: Wish list?

A: We would like to be able to make our living at this and have a lot of people be able to hear what we do. For the short term goal, we would like to record another album.

Q: Who would you like to see your name next to on a marquee, your all time bill from hell?

A: Lacuna Coil, Tool.

Q: If you could work collaborate with anyone (producer wise), who would you chose?

A: We enjoyed working with Dave Otero on Formamentum, and we would like to collaborate with him again, and spend even more time utilizing his talents.

Q: Now name a band that you would love to collaborate with in the future.

A: Tool.

Q: If you could commission a band to cover an AnaDies song, who would do it and which song would it be?

A: We would be interested to hear Hollow covered by whoever wanted to. Although we have heard rumors that another local Colorado Band is already writing songs using AnaDies’ riffs.

Q: Name a couple of albums that served as major influences on your lives.

A: Christy – The Cure: any album

Isaac – Pantera: Vulgar Display of Power

Todd – Acid Bath: As the Kite String Pops

Talia - Tori Amos: Little Earthquakes

Tom - Faith No More: Angel Dust

Jeff - Tool: all of their albums

Q: If you could turn back the hands of time, what would you change, if anything at all?

A: We think everything happens for a reason, so the things we have experienced and dealt with have all contributed to the band that we are.

Q: If you could do a split CD with any band, which would you choose.

A: Mankind is Obsolete.

Q: The music fairy has granted you one wish; you have the power to change one thing in the music industry. What would you change?

A: Our experience in the industry has been on the local level, and we would change the way that venues handle shows (booking, promotion, paying, etc.) We would like to see more local media support and involvement, and more professionalism on the part of bands, promoters, and venues.

Q: What does the future hold for AnaDies? What can your fans look forward to?

A: When we find out, we’ll let you know. Fans can look forward to a new album soon.

Q: If you could interview a band, name one that you would love to interview?

A: Mankind is Obsolete.

Q: More role reversals, do you have any questions for me?

A: How did you hear about us, what sparked your interest in AnaDies, and music in general? A friend of mine on My Space suggested you to me as I was pleasantly surprised. Now as far as my interest in music, it's in my genes I guess. My father was an alto sax player and mother was really into music and two of my uncles were DJ's, so there you go! :)

Q: Do you have a message you would like to share with your fans?

A: Thanks for all your support, we hope to play a show near you soon.

Q: Would you like to add anything, something that I missed?

A: Thanks for your interest and support, and we’d like to announce that we took home the win for the Battle of the Bands round on Oct 21, and will be playing at the finals on New Year’s Eve.

I'd like to thank Tom and the rest of AnaDies for filling out this interview. Best of luck in your future endeavors as I know your show on NYE will be amazing!!
