| The Thrash Titans cometh and with judgment brings an awaking. Testament’s highly anticipated release of Formation of Damnation (Nuclear Blast Records), a 11-song opus of all new bone crushing material, reawakening some nerve endings in our collective eardrums. Testament is back and is once again serving us true thrash at its finest. Who needs gimmicks with this band? With 4/5 of the original lineup, the musicianship is in full throttle. They are not merely a band of the past but with the afore mention release has demonstrated that they not only annihilate most metal contenders but has surpass their metal counterparts bringing a much needed kick in the ass and morphing thrash in a new direction. FourteenG sits down with vocalist Chuck Billy in an extended interview session from Chicago’s Powerfest closing night.
Chuck talks about The Longest Walk, record deals, new videos for the Henchmen Ride and Formation of Damnation in the works and MTV’s 52 Bands in 52 Weeks showcasing Testament as one of the only metal outfits in the lineup. It’s all in the timing. Also, an appropriately posed question by the Defenders of Thrash, Skeletonwitch’s very own guitarist, Scott Hedrick. This summer you can catch Testament in the Metal Masters Tour featuring Judas Priest, Heaven and Hell & Motorhead. Stop frothing at the mouth already! Chuck’s somber Zen-like disposition provided a sigway to a stirring conversation on alternative medicines. Although I’ve read the stories you truly need to hear the narrative. It’s something to ponder. If you don’t have an open mind, don’t waste your time and move elsewhere. For all others, read on. Or in this case listen up! |
