In our previous interview, last time we spoke with frontman Peter Dolving for one of Gothenburg, Sweden’s finest, The Haunted. The band had just embarked on the Devastation Across the Nation tour as openers for Damageplan and Shadows Fall in the winter of 2004. Of course much has changed the world in music since that tour abruptly ended with the events surrounding our sorely missed and not forgotten guitar-god, Dimebag Darrell, however we are not here to discuss that at this time. Today we catch up with Mr. Dolving on a happier note as the Wisconsin's Alpine Valley playgrounds serve as the latest backdrop and stop on the Ozzfest 2005 tour. Learn how Dolving got his mohawk, it wasn't from losing a bet either!

Peter: [Smiles] Tack så mycket igen!

Karma: This will be short since I put you through the wringer last time. [We both laugh] How have things been going? Lot of stuff has transpired since the last interview.

Peter: Yeah, things have been going well; we’ve been touring Europe like madmen together with those ridiculous girls in Cradle of Filth [As the band just toured Europe with CoF and Moonspell]. [Hysterical laughter ensues] Other than that it’s been good!

Karma: Awesome! So the album’s still doing well?

Peter: Yeah, I think it’s still doing good! It started to go down now it’s starting to go back up again, which is very cool.

Karma: Obviously, the resurgence of sales can be attributed to Ozzfest, which is great.

Peter: Yeah and it’s picking up with every show that we do, it’s outstanding; the response that we’re getting!

Karma: That’s fun!

Peter: Yeah, it’s fun, it’s amazing.

Karma: Is it all that was expected as far as projections for the tour?

Peter: No, [Pauses] I don’t think I expected very much ‘cos everybody’s been talking so much about it and then after while you get to the point where you’re like, ‘Yeah… let me see where things are!’ instead. They have all been these giant preconceived notions about things and you have to let things be what they are.

Karma: So true! So I've gotta ask, what’s with the hairdo! I did not even recognize you earlier! [We all laugh]

Peter Dolving of The Haunted (Photo: Sharita Lumpkin)Peter: [Laughs] The hairdo? [Reaches up to touch his head] This happened at the end of April or beginning of May, I don’t remember right now. I was going to cut my hair with my trimmer and the thing where you measure it, it broke. So I started cutting my hair and I'm like, “WHOA! I’ve got a big hole in my hair” So I was like fuck, "What am I going to do?" Could just shave it off or just look a bonehead, it will only take two to three weeks for it to grow out. Then [I thought], “Nah! I’ll do something fun!” so then I just got the mohawk. I’ve had it going ever since.

Karma: So you plan on keeping it for a while longer?

Peter: Yeah, for a while. I’ll probably get bored with it eventually.

Karma: Good cool do for the summer, especially today.

Peter: Yeah!

Karma: What does your wife think?

Peter: She thinks its fun. She thinks it’s great. We have all of the kids back home with these styles!

Karma: You’re kidding me?

Peter: [Shakes head, we all laugh] Yup, yup! My youngest, my little boy, he’s got it. My sister, her two youngest daughters have them too.

Karma: Wow, even the girls…

Peter: …yeah, even the girls have them and they look cool. [Huge smile crosses his countenance] Kick ass!

Karma: Oh, that’s awesome! So what are your immediate plans after Ozzfest?

Peter: I’m not sure, I know that we’ll be touring until Christmas.

Karma: Here included?

Peter: The States too, after this we take three weeks off to see family and then we go right back out with Meshuggah and God Forbid and that will be five or six weeks here and then we go back home to Europe together with God Forbid and do Europe for five weeks I think. Then a Christmas break!Peter Dolving of The Haunted (Photo: Sharita Lumpkin)

Karma: Now that’s pretty cool.

Peter: Yeah, I’m really looking forward to that. We get to spend some actual family time. After that I don’t know. They’re talking about some tours that might be out there so we’re not gonna… [Pauses]

Karma: ...let the cat out of the bag just yet.

Peter: [Nods head] No, we’ll wait. [Smiles]

Karma: The God Forbid/Meshuggah bill sounds amazing, we all await for the next installment! Thanks for you time, Peter. Tack så mycket!

Peter: Var så god!

I'd like to thank Peter for chatting with us again, to Marcus, the band's tour manager and Heather at Century Media for setting the interview up.
